Compounded GLP1 Status and Availability
Here at The Medicine Shoppe, our Compounded Semaglutide is produced by an FDA registered out-sourcing facility. These are FDA regulated pharmacies that do not sell individual rxs to patients, but they sell to other providers to be dispensed. These are of a higher quality than normal pharmacy compounded prescriptions due to the FDA regulation of cGMP practices.
The FDA on February 21st 2025, declared Semaglutide Injectable Brands to be no longer in a “shortage” status. When that happens a 503B compounding pharmacy has 60 days to wind down their productions and a 503A compounding pharmacy (Our Medicine Shoppe is this) can then sell out the remaining stock as prescriptions after the 60 days.
There has also been a lawsuit filed by the 503B pharmacies that could extend these dates.
So currently we have a good supply of this and can continue dispensing prescriptions until sometime after April 21st. Please check back here for updated status from time to time.
